Specific Features:
• Psychotic: hallucinations or delusions
• Chronic: lasting 2 yr or more
• Catatonic: uncontrollable and purposeless movement or fixed and inflexible posture, echolalia or echopraxia
• Melancholic: mood is worse in the morning, early
morning awakening, weight loss, excessive guilt, agitation or sluggishness
• Atypical: increased sleep, weight gain, sensitivity to rejection, and a heavy feeling in arms or legs
• Postpartum: within 4 wk postpartum
• Seasonal: at the same time each year (most often in the fall or winter)
