In this baking video you will see how to make an Orange Sponge Cake layered with Orange Pastry cream. The Genoise as it is also known as is a French sponge cake recipe from "Piece of Cake" by Susan G. Purdy. The cake is topped with whipped cream. I included the pastry cream recipe in this video which is spiked with Grand Marnier. The layers are sliced very thinly and brushed with a generous amount of Orange flavored (Grand Marnier) Simple Syrup. If you don't want to use alcohol you can use orange juice and zest to flavor the syrup instead or orange extract.

Sponge Cake Recipe Ingredients in cups, ounces and grams
1 1/2 cups sifted cake Flour (5 1/4 ounces: 150 grams ) plus 1 Tablespoon
Pinch of salt
6 Tablespoons unsalted Butter (3 ounces: 85 grams )
6 large eggs
1 cup granulated Sugar (7 ounces: 200 grams)
1 teaspoon orange or lemon extract
Zest of one Orange
