Recipe ingredients
Into a large pot over medium heat put...
1/2 cup water
2 sticks butter
3/4 cups honey
1/4 cup molasses
1 cup packed brown sugar
Dry Ingredients
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp powdered ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp ground cloves
Add the eggs and beat after each addition
3 eggs
Add and mix in
1/2 cup milk
Fresh Ginger 1 Tbsp.
Combine wet and dry and pour into a 9 inch square pan coated with shortening and waxed paper. Leave a lip of the paper so you can pull the cake out when finished and cooled.
Bake @ 325-350 about 1 hour or until the cake is firm to the touch or a toothpick stuck into the center comes out clean. It may take more or less in your oven so keep a sharp eye on your cake as it's baking.
